Young, Dick and Beverly

Dick and Beverly Young
Montevideo, Uruguay
Converge Worldwide - BGC

Dick and Beverly are church planting in a heavily populated, high rise district of Montevideo, Uruguay known as the Rambla. This upper middle class neighborhood has been described as the largest unreached people group in the Western Hemisphere. The culture of Uruguay was highly influenced by French enlightenment and remains strongly secular and agnostic, with the Rambla known as the most agnostic community in the Americas. The primary outreach strategies involve a radio program and using the church’s rental facility as a conference center for important cultural presentations and private groups. As a result, several thousands of people pass through the “King of Peace” church facility each year. Working with a team that has a unique mix of gifts and ministries the Youngs are reaching people in this modern city who are spiritually empty.
