Prayer

Prayer is a Ministry at Lakewood.

Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus . . . I Thessalonians 16-18

Prayer is our opportunity to share our praise, love, concerns and petitions with God.  He desires that we share those things with Him.  He promises to answer our prayers and He always does.  He answers them in the way He feels is best for us.  At First Baptist Church of Lakewood, we have a variety of small groups who focus on prayer for our people, our church, our community, the lost, and our vision, which is to be ‘A Thriving Community of Fully Functioning Followers of Jesus Christ.’  Some of the small groups actively involved in prayer include:

Weekly Prayer Task Force
Every Sunday morning at 8:20 a group of prayer warriors gather together in room A-119 to pray for the church, the country and specific requests. Anyone is welcome to join us on any Sunday.

Prayer Chains
Our Adult Sunday School Classes and Women’s Circles have Prayer Chains that are made up of members of their small group.  Their purpose is to pray for individuals or families with special needs.  It may be, but is not limited to, health related or missions related needs.

Pastors Partners In Prayer
Without question we must uphold our pastors, staff, leaders, and missionaries in prayer.  We have a small group lay ministry entitled ‘Pastors Partners In Prayer’.  This group of individuals select a prayer partner to pray with each week with a focus on the above positions.  Some of the group also prays with the pastor before each worship service.  They also pray with guest speakers and as requested with staff members who are preparing for a special event or activity.  They attempt to meet quarterly for a time of praise and fellowship and annually for training and renewal.  If you would like additional information about this ministry, please email Pastor Bill Zabel at bzabel@fbcol.org
