Dave Friese
Team Leader: Pastor of Adults
In 25 words or Less...
Describe your job...
I oversee the teams that minister to adults 26 and beyond. In the Adult ministries we strive to create a place where people feel like they Belong, are Cared for and Equipped to grow and serve.
Describe your family...
I married my wife Becky in 1983. (We met while working together in the junior high ministry.) She graduated from Bethel Seminary as a Marriage and Family Therapist. We have four children: Jason, Michael, Megan, and Kristen.
Describe a normal day...
What’s normal? I start the day with prayer and Bible study and hopefully a workout. Days are filled with counseling, preparing for teaching, planning, meeting with staff, training, etc.
Choose One...
Beach or mountains?
I love both. I love taking in God’s creation. It is hard to choose between powerful waves backed dropped by an airbrushed sunset sky or snowcapped mountains reflected in a cool and calm mountain lake surrounded by an evergreen forest.
PC or Mac?
Mostly PC. Part of me has moved over to the dark side when I bought an IPad2.
Morning or Evening Person?
Whatever it takes. I enjoy early quiet mornings before the Lord and late evenings talking to my college kids.
Sports or arts?
I have an extensive sports background (it paid my way through college). However, I love photography, drawing, and creating. I was the one in the family that created the Halloween costumes for the kids. (Creations included Pilots flying an airplane, Monopoly Man, Gameboy – both yellow and clear, a lighted Christmas tree complete with presents, etc.)
Creative or administrative?
Being administrative is necessary in overseeing so many ministries. The better I am at it the more time I have to be creative. I love being organized but I get filled up when I am creative.
Italian Food or Mexican Food?
When I was growing up I would have said Italian. But I lived 15 years in Encinitas and became a fan of Mexican Food. All in all, you can say I like food.
