Nick Ranieri

Middle School Pastor

In 25 words or less…

Describe your job...

I get to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with middle school students both in and outside of the church. An absolute privilege and joy.

Describe your family...

My beautiful bride (Jaci) is absolutely in love with Jesus and is truly my best friend. My parents (Rob & Sharon) are passionate about Christ and inspiring to me. My brother (Matt) is my best man and also works with middle schoolers!

Describe a normal day...

Time in Word/prayer. Meeting and connecting with interns/staff/students. Facebook. Prepping/programming sermons and events. The rest is spent in reading and witty banter among staff.

Choose One...

Beach or mountains?

Mountains. I’ve changed my answer forty times, but now I’ve decided! Skiing was the swing vote.

PC or Mac?

Mac. Can’t function without my Apple toys, it’s the truth.

Morning or Evening Person?

Evening. I wish I could wake up at 5, go running, drink coffee, and read the paper. But my pillow couldn’t take the emotional pain of a change in routine after all these years. So really, I’m just thinking of him (my pillow).

Sports or arts?

Sports. Chargers, Yankees, UCLA. ‘Nuff said.

Creative or administrative?

Creative.

Italian Food or Mexican Food?

Mexican. I’m going against my Italian roots here but enchiladas, tacos, tamales, burritos, and salsa are just too good. Although, I can never resist some delicious chicken parmigiana!

Randoms...

Most embarrassing moment:

I was in a Star Wars rollerblade play/musical at Magic Mountain. I could stop here but it gets worse. I forgot my rollerblades. I was left to run around the stage as Han Solo.

One thing about the staff people don’t realize:

Mondays: Candyland in the conference room. Tuesdays: Safety training video just to stay sharp. Wednesdays: Story time as Trent Lewis reads to us. Thursdays: Split into 4 teams and have a relay race around the office. Fridays: Only speak in morse code.

Favorite Color:

Purple Mountain’s Majesty. Crayola.

If you had to do one other job in a field outside of your own, what would it be:

Something in the sports world. Agent, athlete, GM, etc.

Everyone should read:

Living the Cross Centered Life by CJ Mahaney

Most played on your iPod right now:

I would name it but it’s all country music, so not many of you would understand. Also, Shane & Shane.
