A Message from the Team

2012

I once heard a pastor challenge his listeners to live their lives here on earth with eternity in view.  He told them to go about their daily activities, but always “tune to the trumpet.”  The Bible tells us in I Thessalonians 4 that Jesus will come from heaven one day.  Those who know and love Him will hear the “trumpet call of God,” and meet the Lord in the air, and be with Him forever!

Easter is a time we remember the amazing gift of God’s grace—forgiveness of our sins through Jesus’ brutal death on the cross (the perfect substitute sacrifice) and everlasting life, because He conquered death and rose again on the third day!  God’s love sent Jesus to die, so He could call us His children and lavish us with His amazing love . . . forever!

It’s so easy to get caught up in the busy rhythms of our “earth life.”  We rush around always feeling the need for more time in our days.  Often we feel the tyranny of the urgent has spectacular control of our schedules, and we wish we could simplify and slow down.  Is it possible to master our moments?  Can we conquer the chaos?  Will we ever be able to control our calendar?  It’s an ongoing challenge isn’t it?

We read the story of Mary and Martha in Luke 10, and yearn to be more like Mary and less like Martha.  But when we get right down to it, the core issue is priorities.  Mary made Jesus a priority.  She took opportunities to sit at his feet and soak in His love for her.  If we slow down enough to think about it, that’s exactly what we want.  More time spent on things that matter, things eternal.  More time spent with the Eternal One, Jesus Christ, who will one day come back and take those who know Him to be with Him in heaven—forever!

Life here on earth will always hand us challenges, and most likely we will always feel there’s not enough time to get it all done.  But as we focus on Jesus and give Him our days, life becomes an epic adventure; and we begin to experience peace, joy, and contentment.  Deep in our hearts, in the middle of our busy days, we are listening for it—we are straining to hear it—the trumpet sound that is surely coming!

Have a blessed Easter, and remember to always tune to the trumpet!
